Roller boxes are available in a wide range of sizes and capacity to suit various turning machines - conventional manual, automatics or CNC-controlled turned diameters as low as 1.5mm and up to 50mm can be achieved.
The cutting action consists of an indexable insert, with various grades of carbide and configuration to cut a wide variety of materials. Two rollers, which run on the part being turned, produce a burnished finish to give a very good surface.
At the end of the cut the patented 'auto-retract' works, moving the cutting insert away from the turned diameter. This enables the roller box to be retracted in rapid mode, thus not marking the diameter turned. The 'auto-retract' mechanism automatically re-sets itself on the next component.
